Aloft London Excel stay

I had the pleasure of staying the night at the lovely Aloft London Excel, even though I am a Londonder I still get super excited about staying in my own city.  My room was upgraded to a suite which was bigger then my house so you can imagine how nice it was to have some quiet time and space.

The Hotel itself had some really helpful staff and I don't think I have stayed in a Hotel that modern. So it made for a fun experience. The artist in me loved the colour of the exterior of the hotel, yep I know massively geeky.  The location of the hotel is great if you need to visit tourist attractions, but at the same time it felt like you weren't in London.

My room over looked the river and it felt rather peaceful as I sipped on my coffee, I have recently become a massive coffee addict so it was nice touch to have the coffee machine at my disposable, it really is about the small things.

I spent my evening in the WXYZ bar which had a really fun atmosphere whilst live musicians played I sat and drew whilst eating.
It was really nice because often when I'm traveling and staying alone it  can feel a tad lonely but the atmosphere was fun and friendly.

Morning, I emerged after a wonderful nights sleep in a big double bed to myself and ventured down stairs to sample the breakfast. There was a lovely mix of fresh fruit and cooked breakfast I'm not a big breakfast gal so I opted for some orange juice and fruit, thinking I'll make myself a tea after my shower.

I did stupidly blow my kettle up resulting in having to call the reception as it had blown the electrics resulting in me looking rather soggy after the shower and waiting for the electrician to turn up. which he did super quick and sorted things with no effort.

I loved the interior of my suite, it was modern, minimal and well thoughts out. It was lovely and peaceful even though you could see the aeroplanes over head

Brighton Photo diary

A few weeks ago my best friend who lives miles away in Norfolk gave me a call letting me know she was headed to Brighton for a few days so I booked myself a train ticket to head down to visit her in one of my favorite places. Brighton isn't too far from London I decided to take the slow train as I'm never a fan of dashing about.

We decided our day would be about wandering, drinking coffee and eating good food. So that's exactly what we did. As I got into Brighton early I headed to may favorite coffee shop Cafe Coho and grabbed myself a tasty breakfast and my first ever Matcha Latte. The pancakes and Latte were devine and the location waiting for Kelly to head into town were perfect, I drew, ate and watched the world pass bye. Cafe Coho is a really cute coffee shop that serves home made food and tasty coffees I had the best ever (thats a bold statement) Chai Latte here.

When we are in Brighton we love to wander around the Laines, I love snoopers Paradise and the little independent shops. We discovered a fun little photo booth shop and snapped some fun photos both of us looking a little worst for wear. We also stopped and ate lunch at Wai Kika Moo Kau which is our favorite cafe to visit as we are both Veggies, it's pretty affordable  and you get a good amount for your money which is just the best.

We spent the rest of the day chatting and catching up about life since we last hung out in October. There is nothing better then hanging out with your best friend enjoying wandering around a city by the sea.

getting out of London

It's been a while since, I just took a day trip just because I can. I have been tied to my desk for seven days straight completing work and working on my dream, I'll talk more about that another time. So we decided to jump in the car and head on over to Berkhamstead which is about thirty minutes drive from me maybe less. Lovely little town with a beaut of a cinema and some wonderful little shops.

We decided to book tickets to see the film song of the sea which for anyone like me who loves animated films this Irish folklore based film was spectacular, simple but delicate. Before we watched the film we had a little time to kill, and wandered down by the canal, ate a sausage roll, screw you diet I'm heart broken and then read a few books in Waterstones making the most of the fashion and art dept.

It's always nice to get out of the city and make the most of the surrounding areas, just wish I ad brought my sketchbook and watercolours!

HOPE YOU'RE HAVING A WONDERFUL WEEKEND.

East London

Some days as a freelancer are great, being able to take my work with me and draw where ever I want are the perks of my profession so I decided a little impromptu drawing session with Paige was just what i needed. We headed to Hawkhurst Vault to set up camp and get doodling, I had a wedding commission to finish and Paige worked on some new printables. So we sat chatted, painted and doodled for a good few hours. We devoured a rather gooey chocolate brownie and enjoyed a few cups of tea and the occasional Latte.

On our way to the coffee shop we wandered through Spitalfields, every Thursday it is kitted out with some of the best Antiques around, I do love snapping photos but it is sadly over priced, luring those tourists in. I did however spot a basket of cute 1970's leather booties for Teddy but I did snap any up because I have no idea what size he would be, sucha shame they were beautiful.

I still love wandering around this part of the city, even though I have spent endless hours walking the streets, shopping, eating and partying in this part of town. I love discovering new graffiti and new shops that pop up one month and then disappear. Its always great walking about town with a fellow creative that sees opportunities to snap photos and share ideas.

HOPE YOU'VE HAD A LOVELY DAY
